International buyer acquires Oasis Dream colt at Arqana sale

Runnymede’s outstanding colt by Oasis Dream out of the Seeking the Gold mare Seek Easy was acquired by an international buyer at the Arqana Deauville select yearling sale in France.

British-based agent Charlie Gordon-Watson signed the €250,000 (about $319,000) ticket for the bay colt from the family of sires Encosta de Lago, Flying Spur, Holy Roman Emperor and Kheleyf. The price was more than 2 ½ times the overall sale average price and more than three times the median price.

Although Gordon-Watson did not publicly disclose the identity of the buyer, tentative plans call for the colt, who was in high demand during presale inspections, to be sent to a prominent trainer in Britain.

“His conformation is of classic proportions, he has an impeccable pedigree and his sire is leading the world in group stakes winners.  I will be very surprised and disappointed if this colt does not go on to perform and win at the highest level,” said Runnymede Vice President and General Manager Martin O’Dowd, who traveled to France to attend the Arqana sale.

Runnymede bred the colt—who is a half brother to multiple group stakes-placed three-year-old Dancing David and to American and English winner Ordination—in Ireland as part of the farm’s international ventures.

Watership Down Stud consigned the colt to the Deauville sale as agent for Runnymede.
