Weanlings with Cup Connections in Sale

Runnymede’s consignment to the Keeneland November breeding stock sale includes two attractive weanlings who have significant connections to Breeders’ Cup performers.
Hip 286 is a gray or roan filly by top sire Tapit and out of the Deputy Commander mare Bayani, a half sister to the dam of 2009 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf winner Tapitsfly, an earner of more than $775,000 who also is by Tapit.Hip 286, a close relative to Tapitsfly (Michele MacDonald/Full Stride photo)
Foaled on March 16, our filly is from the family of Arlington Million Stakes (G1) and Japan Cup (G1) winner Golden Pheasant.
Hip 302 is a colt by Hard Spun, currently one of the leading freshman sires, and out of our Carson City mare Claire’s Smile. The handsome and strapping dark bay colt, foaled on May 17, is a half brother to Sweet Cat, who is entered in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G2) at Churchill Downs on November 4, and to Saratoga stakes winner Loose Leaf.
Sweet Cat was purchased from the 2010 Runnymede consignment to the Keeneland September yearling sale by trainer Todd Pletcher.
Both weanlings are in Book 1 of the November sale and will be offered on November 8. They will be available for inspection in Barn 14 at Keeneland
